Don't Lose Your Hustle! Here’s How To Keep Your Account Hacker-Free on Instagram

Top Tips to Keep Hackers Out of Your Instagram

You’ve spent years building your Instagram audience, perfecting your content, and landing brand deals. Your profile is your online portfolio, a testament to your hard work and creativity. Now, picture this nightmare: you wake up to a notification - "Account Disabled."

Your Instagram account is your livelihood, and losing it can be devastating. Here are some tips to equip you with the knowledge to transform your account from a vulnerable page to a secure fortress.

Think of your Instagram account as your digital resume. It showcases your talent, attracts potential collaborators, it’s your entire career. Losing access is like losing your portfolio before a job interview. Losing your account may not be the only problem you face. Sometimes, hackers also do more damage by ruining your reputation and even worse, financial losses.

Now, let's get down to business! Here are the key strategies to keep your Instagram account safe.

Fort Knox Password

This is security 101 but there are people who because of forgetfulness have passwords with their birthdates and nicknames. You need to craft a strong, unique password that combines upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols too.

If you are one to easily forget passwords, just use a password manager to keep track of complex passwords for all your accounts.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Think of 2FA as that extra button put behind shirts. Just the thing you need in case of a rainy day. It adds an extra layer of security by requiring a code from your phone in addition to your password when logging in. That way hackers will have a much harder time breaching your account.

Think Before You Click

People use promotional links to infiltrate accounts. Beware of pages that bombard you with DMs promising free vacations, instant verification, or a sudden surge in followers through a link?. These are often phishing scams in disguise. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Does an email or DM land in your inbox claiming to be from Instagram and urging you to click a link? If a message seems suspicious, especially if it asks for personal information, delete it immediately. Your login information can be stolen through these links.

Beware of Third-Party Apps

Not all apps are secure. Before connecting a third-party app to your Instagram account, research its reputation and security practices. Only authorize apps you absolutely trust.

Backup, Backup, Backup!

Imagine losing all your work. You can’t let that happen! Regularly back up your Instagram photos and videos. You can download your Instagram data directly from the app by going to the Accounts Centre icon, on the app and tap on it. You go ahead to click “Your information and Permissions”, next you select “Access your information” and follow the on-screen instructions to submit your request. Downloading your Instagram data might take some time, depending on the amount of information you have accumulated. Within 30 days, Instagram will send you a notification or email with a link to download your data once it's ready.

By implementing these security measures, you'll build the perfect defense against hackers and ensure your Instagram account remains the thriving creative workspace it deserves to be. Remember, a little vigilance goes a long way in protecting your online empire!
